Known issues

Symptom Workaround
After updating your computer from Windows 10 v1809 to a greater edition System and user certificates might become missing. However, you will encounter this issue if you have installed LCU for Sept 16, 2020 or later. Afterward, you are trying to update to a greater edition via an installation source or media which does not have an Update rolled out on Oct 13, 2020 or later integrated. The problem essentially occurs when managed devices are updated through media or out of date bundles via an update management tool, for instance, WSUS or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. This issue might also occur when you use outdated ISO images or physical media that don’t obtain the most recent updates integrated.

Important – If you use Windows Update for Business or that connect straight to Windows Update you will no longer be impacted. In this case, you should always get the latest versions of the feature update, furthermore the latest LCU, without any additional steps.

Uninstall the windows by rolling back to the earlier version using the guidelines here. The uninstall window might be either 30 or 10 days based on the configuration of the environment and the edition. You will then require to update to the greater version of Windows 10 after the problem is settled in your environment. Important – From the uninstall window, you are able to change the number of days to roll back to your previous version. All you need to do is run the DISM command /Set-OSUninstallWindow. Make this change before the default uninstall window has lapsed. Get detail here – uninstall command-line options.

A team is working on a resolution and will send updated bundles and refreshed media in the forthcoming weeks.
