Patch Tuesday, July 12, 2022 – Windows 11, 10 will get security updates

July 12, 2022, will bring another “Patch Tuesday”, Microsoft will release security updates for all supported operating systems, including Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Patch Tuesday, July 12, 2022

Patch Tuesday, June 2022 brought some long-awaited bug fixes such as Follina remote code execution vulnerability that was severely affecting the MSDT aka Microsoft Windows Support Diagnostic Tool. Furthermore, most versions of Windows 10 have ended support for Internet Explorer 11. Microsoft also rolled out a Phase 2 update to address CVE-2021-26414 vulnerability related to a bypass of DCOM server security functions. This major update may also be the topic of July’s “Patch Tuesday”.

But before jumping to the forecast, you might be aware of the Chrome update 103.0.5060.114 released at the beginning of this week. This version fixed the fourth zero-day vulnerability this year. Actually, the company didn’t reveal that the buffer overflow vulnerability was exploited in real-life attacks. They are waiting for the July patch Tuesday instead.

Windows 11 and Windows 10 will receive security updates on Patch Tuesday, July 12, 2022 –

Last month, Microsoft quietly rolled out a bug fix for the NTLM relay vulnerability. Due to this bug, the attacker took over the device as a Windows domain controller and inflicted several attacks using elevated privilege. July patch Tuesday release may pay attention to this vulnerability.

There were a lot of buzzes regarding the Internet Explorer’s end of support in the June Patch Tuesday release. One possibility was that the legacy browser would be removed from systems where it was no longer supported.

However, the tech giant is reserving these features for the upcoming cumulative update.  As of now, launching IE 11 through search displays an end-of-life warning and redirects to Microsoft Edge. Also, the company recommends using IE mode in the browser for supporting apps.

On July 12, Patch Tuesday, Microsoft SQL server 2012 will expire, so, there is a possibility that a rather big update for SQL will be available.

The next Patch Tuesday may come with a warning of end of support for some versions of SQL servers.

ESU or Extended Security Updates for three years is going to start next month, however, if you want to upgrade to a completely supported SQL, SQL Server 2019 may be your choice. In addition, the final update will be released for this Patch Tuesday ESU for SQL Server 2008 R2.

Patch Tuesday July 2022 forecast:

Microsoft following the trend of releasing fixes for fewer vulnerabilities should not send any large number of bug fixes in July.

In July Patch Tuesday security updates we should expect standard updates for Windows 11, Windows 10, and other legacy OS versions.

Apart from this, more MS office apps may receive updates this month.

Last but not least,  Adobe Acrobat and Reader received patches in April, so there is a chance of getting a major update soon for both.

That’s all!!
