Developers have very exciting news to hear that Microsoft has started releasing the next level Framework .NET 5 Preview 1. The final version is scheduled for general availability in November 2020. They have clarified that the framework is the future of .NET, which is a single unified platform for developing any type of application. Furthermore, they emphasize the statement – The framework will remain supported as long as Windows itself is supported.
.NET 5 is a newer cross-platform framework that is being tested by Redmondians. This will include WinForms, ASP.NET Core, Xamarin, Entity Framework Core, WPF, and ML.NET. The effort is being put to unify .NET into a single platform. It will be the ever first occasion when the whole platform will use a unified BCL (Base Class Libraries) for all the app models.

.NET 5, after release, will be continuously getting security and bug fixes. The Software giant will keep networking and crypto API’s up to date and release the patches regularly. Microsoft will ensure the safety and support for your older applications on .NET Framework. The main highlights of the release are –
- They brought significant improvements to the performance of Regex engine.
- Code quality or CQ is improved for RyuJIT.
- Assembly load diagnostics are added to event pipe
- The rollout has added profiler APIs to the Event pipe.
- GitHub repo is consolidated.
- The release of Preview 1 adds support for Windows ARM64 for the first-ever. Also, it includes .NET Core runtime.
