Dev channel of Windows Insider has received a new update with Copilot, Windows Spotlight as default background, and some bug fixes. Furthermore, Microsoft has added an ISO file for this version. This is Windows 11 Build 23565.1000 (ni_prerelease) having some known issues with Start menu All apps and Copilot.

As the ISO for this build is placed in Windows Insider Program ISOs pages, you can download it, make bootable, and install using installation media.

Improvements and changes

Copilot

  • Copilot rolled out Beta channel previously, now in Dev Insider, Windows will show the new icon on the taskbar.

Windows Spotlight

  • The team is currently experimenting with setting Windows Spotlight as the default desktop background for upgrades, particularly for Insiders who are currently using one of the pre-installed default desktop backgrounds. Initially, they are piloting this experience with a select group of Insiders.

Bug Fixes

File Explorer

  • Windows 11 Build 23565.1000 (ni_prerelease) fixed a few reliability issues affecting File Explorer.
  • Resolved an underlying problem that could lead to File Explorer windows becoming unresponsive for OneDrive users.
  • When loading a large number of images in the Gallery, it will now display a loading state instead of suggesting that the Gallery is empty while it loads.

Please note that certain fixes mentioned in Dev builds might be included in the servicing updates for the officially released version of Windows 11.

Start menu

  • Certain applications listed under “All apps” on the Start menu, including Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) installed through Microsoft Edge, might be inaccurately identified as system components.

Copilot

  • Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel located in global markets where Copilot in Windows is available in preview, and who are using the Home edition of Windows 11 Insider Preview builds, may observe that Copilot in Windows is no longer visible on the taskbar. We’re working to resolve this issue in a future flight.
  • You will have to employ the Show grid commands to click on the Ask me anything box when you initially launch or after the “refresh of Copilot” while utilizing “voice access mode”.

The desktop watermark that appears in the lower right corner of your desktop is a standard feature in these pre-release builds.

Copilot Availability: The preview version of Copilot in Windows is being gradually introduced to Windows Insiders in specific global markets. Initially, this preview is accessible in North America and select regions in Asia and South America. They plan to expand availability to additional markets in due course.

How to download Windows 11 Build 23565.1000 and install

Since Microsoft released the ISO file for this Dev Channel build you can install it using 2 methods:

1] Using automatic mode

Go to Settings > Windows Update and click on Check for updates.

When downloading is completed select Restart now.

2] Using ISO File

  1. Go to the Windows Insider Program ISOs page.
  2. Scroll down and click on Select edition.
  3. Choose Windows 11 Insider Preview (Dev Channel) – Build 23565 from the dropdown and click on Confirm.
  4. Select a language and again confirm.
  5. Click on 64-bit Download.
  6. After the ISO file is downloaded make it bootable by following How to Use Rufus to Install Windows 10 or Ventoy – Create Bootable USB easily with ISO (multi-boot support.
  7. Insert the bootable disk and install the version.
