Symptoms Workaround
Some systems might not substitute the Legacy  Microsoft Edge with the Chromium version of the same browsers. However, the legacy version has been removed. This mostly occurs for the devices which have installations created from custom offline media or ISO images. This problem is experienced when ISO images or custom offline media are created by slipstreaming this patch into the image without having received the SSU dated 29/03/2021 or later.

Important –If you have enabled automatic update and installed it directly you will not be affected by this problem. For example, Windows Update for Business. Always remember to install SSU of the most recent version prior to installation of any cumulative patch to avoid encountering this issue.

If you are trying not to encounter the problem then slipstream the Servicing Stack Updatedated 29/03/2021 or later into the ISO image or custom offline media. Then slipstreamthe CU. The execution process is to extract the SSU from the combined package –

  1. Unpack the .cab file from the .msuthrough this command line (with the package for KB5010342 as an example): expand Windows10.0-KB5010342-x64.msu /f:Windows10.0-KB5010342-x64.cab <destination path>
  2. Now extract the Servicing Stack Update from the previously unpacked cab using this command-expand Windows10.0-KB5010342-x64.cab /f:* <destination path>
  3. You will then get the Servicing Stack Update cab, whose name isSSU-19041.1526-x64.cab. Finally, slipstream this file into your offline image first, then the  Cumulative update.

In case already encountering the problem, straightway go to this page and download and install the browser.

Microsoft Edge for Business.

You can not receive new updates after getting KB5003690, for instance,06/072021 (KB5004945) or later. When installing you will see the error message, PSFX_E_MATCHING_BINARY_MISSING. To know extra detail go to – KB5005322.
Subsequent to getting this security patch, when connecting to devices in an untrusted domain using Remote Desktop, you might not be able to connect. This will occur when using smart card which will fail to authenticate. You might receive the error note – The login attempt failed or Your credentials did not work. The credentials that were used to connect to [device name] did not work. Please enter new credentials. You are able to fix this problem through known Issue Rollback aka (KIR). Keep in mind that this might consume a maximum of 24 hours for the resolution to propagate automatically to non-managed or personal devices. However, if you reboot it may take less time. Suppose you have enterprise-managed devices and obtained the affected update and confront this issue, then install the following gpedit -Also, follow –How to use Group Policy to deploy a Known Issue Rollback.

Important – Confirm that you are using the proper Group Policy for your version of Windows.

If you have received 22/11/2021 Patch or later then recent emails might not show up in search results in the Microsoft Outlook desktop app. This problem is associated with emails that have been accumulated locally in OST or PST files. This mess up might affect  IMAP and POP accounts, furthermore, accounts hosted on Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365. In case, the Microsoft Outlook app is set to server search as a default configuration, the issue will just affect the advanced search. In order to mitigate this problem, you can disable Windows Desktop Search. This will cause Microsoft Outlook to use its built-in search. For instructions, see Outlook Search not showing recent emails after Windows update KB5008212.

This is resolved via Known Issue Rollback aka KIR. Remember that it might take utmost of 24 hours for propagation. This will be done automatically to consumer devices and non-managed business devices. Rebooting the Windows device might help the resolution apply to your device faster.

Important Verify that you are using the correct Group Policy for your version of Windows.
